Furrtastic – Siamese Houdini

Don’t you love cleaning your room and finding long lost things that you haven’t seen for years. I think that’s the only thing that inspires me to actually do it, all the neat shit I am going to find.

Last weekend I came across the cat’s harness that I bought many years ago thinking it would be a great idea. They will love to go outside for a walk I thought.

Calais is the only one I can put it on, he does like going outside and will happily wander around. Gemini is way to small, and Alex HATES outside. He will just cling to the ground near the door screaming until he is let back inside.

It is a puppia harness, which is technically meant for dogs. But I liked it a lot more than the ones meant for cats. And it was such a pretty colour.

It would fit well if you had regular built cats, rather than slinky Siamese. It’s all good until he remembers that if he puts it in reverse and wiggles a bit he can slip the harness.

Now I remember why we had put it away.

Love a good pat from Dad.

Alex and Anastasia from a while back, when we first got the harness.

Do you walk your cats?

Train has a puppia harness too. Although no velcro — we have to force it all over her head ;) Once it’s on and she’s outside it’s fine, but getting it on… a whole different story….
She hasn’t gone on it in a while, actually, should see if I can get her in it this weekend ;)

Hmmm, maybe we need one like that. Jam it on over his head, he wouldn’t have as much lucky wriggling out of it.

Yes, I do! Tonka was an indoor/outdoor cat with at his previous house, so he’s always wanting to go outside. I do feel mean for keeping him in doors, but he goes out (without a lead) when I put my washing on the line, or do outfit photos. He goes for walks on the lead out the front at times, i’ll sit out there and let him explore. I really like the look of that harness, Tonka has this thin strappy thing, that is rather tight.

I’ve never walked my cats…it’s tempting to try but I’m worried that they will want to go out all the time and drive me nuts. It’s hard enough to go to my balcony without them trying to jump on the screen door or mewling away…

Yes, that is why we don’t do it too often. Anastasia, who is not with us any more was like that. Give her an inch and she took a mile. Once trip outside and then she was for ever trying to escape. Calais isn’t too bad and the other pair just hate outside all together.
